Day 8 - Final Moments
After our trip to the beach, we split into two groups --- one going to the kiosks at Luquillo Beach and the other going to get lunch at a local bakery. On our way to the kiosks, we were met with down-pouring rain, but eventually made it to get lunch and shop for souvenirs. Although our morning was filled with lots of rain, we soon got ready for our "fancy" final dinner.
Getting dressed up, we walked over to Soleo where half of the group ended up getting shirley temples, Watkinson seniors' favorites on school retreats. Our dinner attire's were amazing that we even headed down to the beach to take incredible pictures!
As a final activity, we split into groups to reflect on our time in Puerto Rico. Aviv, Levey, and Spencer focused on nature, where they represented Taino symbols in a drawing. Paris and Jordy worked on a poster depicting gentrification. Isa, Sabrina, and Kelsey made a flip-book about Puerto Rican history. Lastly, Aria, Izzy, and Ja Seng Ra made a poster on community in Puerto Rico! Once these were all completed, we gathered to share what we created, and reflected on the past week.
How would you summarize this trip to someone in one word? "Sublime". - Mr. Kozey
In our final moments together, we all took the time to appreciate one another's company, and the opportunities we had to experience a trip of a lifetime.
As we gather our things and pack for an early flight, we take the time to reflect on the past week. Thank you to all who have been following along on our journey! Wish us luck for a 12AM departure, and see you all back in Connecticut.
Hasta Luego,
Aria & Ja Seng Ra
